The overarching goal to any treatment program should be improving the quality of life of the learner. For special populations, many who require monitoring and support, it can be difficult to balance support with the freedom and right to make independent daily decisions.
Creating and managing this balance is essential for early learners as well as adult learners. This presentation reviews ways direct support workers and their supervisors can implement and design teaching programs that will allow individuals to live as independent a life as possible.
